So the end of the week ends better than it started in relation to our chickens.
The farmer we bought the chickens from decided to GIVE us two more chickens (who lay eggs) because the first ones we bought weren’t laying eggs. It just so happened that we just lost our two dear chickens, so the prayers of restoration were heard!!
Last night our roommate Daniel literally chased away the raccoon again, and saved one of the new chickens. Crazy.
BUT THIS MORNING WE FOUND TWO EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The moment we all have been waiting for! Pictures to prove it:)
aren’t they just beautiful?

We can hardly believe that Moravia is already a month old today! She has grown so much and we are experienced parents now. Just kidding. Her favorite pastimes are sleeping, eating having a party in the middle of the night, and chasing the chickens. She likes to giggle and smile in her sleep, so adorable! Most of all, she loves to be held really close. Yesterday she slept while Bethany held her and sang for an intercession set for the House of Prayer- her first time on stage!
She loves the music and cries when the prayer set is over, we really think she is going to be a singer in the house of prayer!
Seriously not ok:( We only have three faithful hens left. We have no idea what is getting them!
There are more feathers everywhere and the coop door was standing wide open this morning, our roommate thinks it was a coon.
Hopefully no more get taken, so sad.
We have lost one of our dear chickens to a mongrel. Benni the Hen has walked with God and now is no more. Feathers everywhere with no sign of her. Bethany almost cried.
We are asking the Lord to restore double fold from what the enemy has stolen!
And no they aren’t laying eggs yet. The farmer who sold us the chickens felt bad they aren’t laying, so she is going to give us one of her best laying chickens this week:) Maybe we will name her Benni the 2nd!
Here are some updated pictures-
We weighed Moravia today! She is 6 lb and 12 oz!!! She is growing and we are growing with her! We are being stretched… learning to be flexible… learning how to nap in the middle of the day… learning how to read our bibles with her on our lap… 🙂
Every Monday morning here at the House of Prayer we host a weekly prayer gathering for moms and kids – a weekly “pray-date.” This has become one of the most exciting and fruitful ministry initiatives that we have started so far! Our goal is to give moms a place to connect with the Lord’s heart for them and to connect with other young moms for fellowship and encouragement. It’s been huge to gather in small groups to pray for each other’s needs, but also to gather for one purpose of worshiping the Lord and praying for revival in our city. Meanwhile, their children are inspired and equipped to develop their own prayer lives through age-appropriate prayer activities. Jeff is in charge of the kid’s activities and crafts and games, and Bethany leads the mom’s in a prayer time during the hour gathering. At the end of the prayer meeting, all the kids come back to join their moms in a loud and rowdy worship time where we dance, and play tambourines and bongos and the only rule is “Don’t get on the stage!”
The feedback we have received from the moms has really encouraged us. One young mom said, “I thought after a busy week with kids and go, go, go, it was nice to soak and hear from the word of God what He thinks of us. I don’t have a lot of support as a mom. So this is nice to know what I do as a mom matters and God sees it and it is beautiful to Him.”
This week at the Mom and Kid’s Prayer Meeting we heard from one mom whose 5 year old said to her that morning, “Mom I want to go to the house of prayer today.” They hadn’t came to the prayer meeting in awhile so they came! It is so amazing to see such young children respond in worship and actually beginning to love the house of prayer.
Here is a picture of our bongo rowdy time!
We are loving being parents! as I am sure most of you parents out there fully understand. Moravia is so irresistibly cute: she snuggles tight into Jeff’s neck and her little satisfied smiles make us smile too. She is no longer jaundiced and is gaining rapid weight, which is so needed for her because she is so tiny! She is back to birth weight and getting some chunk to her cheeks, praise God.
Grandma Susan (Blosser) came for a little over a week and she played Grandma so well. We showed her around Sioux Falls (such a charming city!), she spent a lot of time in the prayer room, and she blessed us by finishing all Bethany’s little projects around our house- I love my mom. She left Friday and I cried and cried.
We wanted to give some updated pictures of her, now that she looks so different!
We are doing good, trying to adjust and rest and get our energy back:) We LOVE being back in the prayer room!
