We had the baby on Wednesday! Surprise surprise everybody she came early:)
We went into labor early Tuesday night at home, and stayed home through the night to see if it would stop or not… well it became very clear around 1am this was truly labor because the contractions started to get closer together. Around 4am our doula, Hannah, ( our labor support person) came over because I didn’t feel like I could handle the contractions anymore, and we stayed home through most of the morning just getting through labor. It wasn’t painful, and Jeff and Hannah really did so much for Bethany that helped her through it all. We went to the hospital around 8am and got registered and into our room. It took quite awhile for that little kid to come out, so we labored for most of the day. She wasn’t born until 5:30pm (we all were sooo exhausted!) She was a healthy little peanut, 5lb 8oz , and 19 1/4 inches long. YAY!!!!
We named her Moravia Shiloh Mootz.
Moravia was a region of the czech area in the 1700’s. A group of persecuted christians left Moravia to go to Germany where they started a worship community, which later turned into a missions community. Their saying was, “Worthy was the Lamb who was slain.” Some even sold themselves as slaves to different countries in order to share the love of God with slaves. We picked this name because we think she will be a singer, love worship and missions and love God joyfully.
Shiloh is a name from Genesis 49 talking about Jesus. It means “Until He (Jesus) comes” and also means peace. It was also the first city that Israel placed the Tabernacle of Moses when they entered the promised land. We named her that because we think she will experience promises from God and will love singing and worship.
We are doing good! Because Movavia is so small we have had to stay until the hospital for quite some time for her to get over the hump of jaundice. Bethany also had some high blood pressure issues so she had to be put on magnesium sulfate for 24 hours (quite a powerful drug) that knocked her out and made her feel horrible, just because of the risk of the high blood pressure. Today Bethany feels good and we all are well on the upswing and trying to get caught up on sleep. Sorry if we can’t reply to your emails quite yet, we are recuperating!
LOVE YOU ALL and ENJOY THE PICTURES!
The girls snuck up on the deck the other day and pooped everywhere! Our yard smells a little like a farm now:) We found a gate to use to block off our deck though!
Still no eggs:( I’ll keep updating you once we find our first one!
